iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba is an entry level robot vacuum that is effective on both floors that are unfinished and low-pile floor carpet. It has good suction, but struggles with larger particles such as grains of rice or sand. It is capable of cleaning pet hair but isn't as resistant to tangling as premium Roomba models such as the I6 and j7.
The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on the top cover. "Clean," which launches a cleaning session, 'Dock,' which puts it in its charging station and 'Spot,' which activates an individualized cleaning. You can control it using a smartphone application that allows you to schedule cycles, stop and start them, and alter settings. You can also pair the device to smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant to control it through voice.
This vacuum cleaner is slower than others, but it is able to get into the most crevices and corners. It has a huge dust bin that is ideal for reducing the frequency the frequency you have to empty it. Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a good job on low-pile carpet and hard floors. The combination brush is able to reach the edges and corners, and automatically increases suction as soon as it spots carpet. It also does a good job of cleaning embedded dirt on mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a small footprint and has a self-emptying feature. However, if you want to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it in order to do so, which is a bit of an inconvenience.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, but it is prone to get caught up on rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests during our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of hair from floors that were not bare and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective with shag carpets. It had a hard time reaching dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces, as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on flooring that was not fully covered, but it recovered speed and was more efficient than the other robots that we tested.
The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge, and is capable of moving itself over obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky mess. On the other side, the iRobot is more durable, has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can even resume the cleaning process from where it left off in case it has run out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot is also controlled by voice, which can be an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market, but it does offer powerful cleaning capabilities at an affordable price. The RoboVac 11S is designed for budget-conscious consumers who don't need a complex mapping system, or even an app, to control it. This robot can run for a long time and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim, elegant and has a tempered glass upper deck that looks like polished aluminum. It's a nice departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy11S was extremely effective at removing larger particles and fine dust on hard flooring. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpets an effective deep clean. The device also has a tendency to bump into furniture and people that are in its path however, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it encounters an obstacle. Then, you can manually steer the device around it and return it to working.
Another fantastic feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to robot vacuum that vacuums and mops automatically adjust its suction power to match floor type and the level of the mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S to where you'd like it to move.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the space you want to vacuum. The eufy will take 30 minutes intensely cleaning the area that it's assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time that is spent on each area to just 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner, cleaning corners and edges.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance on bare floors is also impressive. It can remove rice and other fine debris easily. The suction power doesn't diminish as the dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body will trap allergens to keep your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin so you don't need additional filters or vacuum bags.
It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's still ideal for fighting stains and deep cleaning. The two cameras on the front of the unit provide a live image feed on your smartphone, and it has one of the best obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It also has a big dustbin, long runtime, and a fast clean-up that is free of bumps.
The Complete C1 is unlike most robots because it can switch between two heads, a standard and a turbo to suit different types of flooring.
